Are you worried about being in front of a camera or appearing in a video?

As a company that produces everything from corporate videos, to large scale webinars and adverts, we’ve been surprised by a number of recent comments from company managers and directors expressing their ‘fear’ of appearing in front of a camera.

It was something that we had not considered because we live in an age of media where the expectation of accessible media is moving, bit by bit, from the written word to video. On reflection this paradigm shift, is apparently causing many to be drawn into a medium that they do not understand or are trained to handle.

The concerns that we’ve heard include: fear of saying the wrong thing, just looking foolish or indeed giving out the wrong message which will damage their company brand.

Ultimately for some, it is simply that they will be on screen and watched by many and indeed be scrutinised by their peers and managers. So a poor performance could damage their careers or worse.

Ewart 2Unfortunately the tide cannot be stopped, digital medium is here to stay and worse still for those who are fearful, and it will only continue to increase in importance.

With companies realising that manipulating video in their media increases engagement and helps convert sales leads, the fear of the media can be a set-back in a future where content will continue to be king.

Even the humble webinar has moved from a PowerPoint presentation and a disembodied voice to a more personal model on Google Hangouts, and ultimately a more sophisticated TV show style Niche TV show platform.

So, (media) training in this area will become more and more important, something that many companies have yet to realise or invested in. However, as the expectation rises, those who perform well in front of a camera will begin to see a commercial return for that investment. Media trained people will be sort out and employees with media training on their CV, will become a more and more sort-after by companies.

Certainly with over 300 hours of video going onto YouTube every hour (https://www.youtube.com/yt/press/en-GB/statistics.html), the better you can make your message look while engaging the audience in your story, the more chance you have of being seen.

So, as we’ve worked with professionals such as Robin Williams, Noel Edmunds, Joan Collins and Larry Hagman to name a few, we feel we can offer a helping hand and some much needed advice to those fearful of cameras. We’re already working with many companies who are entering into the video age for the first time, and need a little practice.

We’ve put together a budget entry level combined Media Training module, where you have the opportunity to be coached on: how to write your script, how to say (deliver) your script, how to move/stand on –camera, and how to look and sound your best. Allowing you to walk away with a 2-3 minute professional introduction to your company or product.

The training will be carried out in a professional (but un-intimidating) TV Studio environment and will give you the confidence to be seen at your best. This is not a presenter’s course. You won’t be expected to read the news, just learn how to handle yourself in front of the media.

You are probably thinking that benefitting from 30 years production experience will cost a fortune, but with a starting price of £395 we think you will be pleasantly surprised. http://biznessacademy.contentshelf.com/product?product=I150320000003CFB

I can personally vouch for this course as I have taken it myself and use the techniques I’ve learned, while I continue to conduct business and present seminars to International audiences all over the world.
